My absence from blog

I had another email regarding where I have been.

My last blog post was in April just before Municipalooza , which was a great event even though not as many people attended that I would like but those that were there got a lot out of it and at some point I would like to do one again.

My life has become one where I say “At some point” because I really can’t make long term plans because I live in the here and now.

I took a short break after Municipalooza because the planning was very tiring and when I was ready to write up how things went my husband became seriously ill and went to Scarborough Hospital from work by ambulance and was in ICU and transported to Scarborough Grace campus where he spent 3 weeks before coming home. During that three weeks he was diagnosed with Glioblastoma brain cancer.

We spent our summer travelling back and forth to St. Mikes for a consultation then a biopsy, surgery is not possible due to location of his tumour.    After the biopsy we waited for what seemed an eternity for Radiation at Princess Margaret Hospital to start and Chemo therapy in a pill.

We remain positive on the outcome of this Thursdays MRI. We hope for stable as in no growth or tumour shrinking as Glioblastoma is incurable, it is always a recurring type of cancer.

This blog is not a cancer blog but my husbands illness has forever changed me, it changed how I look at things and what I care about.  I still care about Ajax but it takes focus to pay attention to Municipal happenings.

So for the next while this voice is still quiet but I will leave you with a few thoughts.

1) Hospital parking is outrageous when you have to be at a hospital every day all day.

2) Scarborough Grace Hospital has a horrible ICU waiting room but St. Mikes is amazing. Is it because one is Scarborough and the other is not?

3) As you move from ICU your interaction with nurses is less and less. This makes sense but it made for understanding what was next more difficult.

4) Why is Sick pay taxed? My husband is on a company sick pay that is the same amount as he will get on EI sick pay and he still has to have tax come off. Why? can’t the government function without the money from those that are sick and a caregiver is taking on more financially?  LTD is different I realise but we are not there yet.

So this is what is going on that has kept me from blogging.

Feel free to update me on what is going on in Ajax.   2014 is an election year that should be interesting based on all the activity going on downtown Ajax.
