March 25th is the filing deadline for 2010 Election Financial Statements

I find it a bit odd that someone who was acclaimed in the last election and had challengers this last time around did not have any expenses except for the nomination fee of $100.00.  0’s are entered everywhere and one blank, nothing entered at all for brochures?  I may have had one sent to my house.

If this statement applies to you , perhaps you can correct it before the deadline.

There are still more to be filed, Ward 2, Ward 3, Ward 4 and Ward 1.  With the exception of the Mayor, Pat Brown and Marilyn Crawford all the sitting Councillors have to file their financial statements by the 25th of March.

This applies to both school boards as well.

To those with the O’s .. they had election signs, we saw them. Even if they were gifted or used in a prior election the value must be acounted for. Is this a case again that only some pay attention to the rules?

Admin: I am referring to someone who won their race. Thanks for pointing out the rule.

Here is a link to the statements.

I did confirm with Blair at the Town that any statements could be amended before March 25th., after that no amendments could be made.

The last election was one big zero so one more zero here & there from a candidate won’t really matter to the voters of Ajax.
Is there anyone out there who attended the “Let’s talk Ajax”? ….

Admin, just saw this comment now. No I did not go to a one sided conversation. :)

    Ward 3 was duped too.
Terry Knox stated he would not take business nor developers money.

Question 34. Will you accept / refuse campaign donations (directly or indirectly) from any business or individual which has or is likely to be seeking contracts with the municipality.

    Terry Knox answered …. REFUSE

http.:// This financial report shows names of prominent developers.

Admin: I asked Scott Crawford if he was running to win and he said he was….. Where are his campaign contributions??? The Municipal Election act states what has to be done but the Town is not the enforcer of the Municipal Act…. Why do we bother? Why do candidates that do not win have to file papers?
Why is it up to a citizen to make a complaint? Why have forms that ask for candidates to break down every penny ? What is the point? Who is going to spend over their limit on a Municipal election? Do you want the job that much? These are just questions that I ask. Janice Oldman ammended her statement but failed to list the Brochures she handed out during the election that are current. She listed everything as Office expenses. So if everyone broke the rules but no one complains I guess all is good? bah humbug!
