Sunday, December 8th, 2013

Maddie Di Muccio is a Councillor in Newmarket, she was a panelist on my Municipalooza and talked about Councillor transparency.

I don’t know what is going on in Newmarket but I am posting her letter and if anyone comes across it and has friends in the Newmarket area, send the info to them.

Here are her words.

Maddie writes a column in the Toronto Sun as well.  She is a very passionate woman in local Politics.

If you follow me on twitter when the new post alert comes out, please retweet it as well.

Avastin for Milton Woman - She is owed!

Monday, November 4th, 2013

I just wanted to post this note on this issue.

The woman in Milton has the same type of Brain Cancer as my husband.

If someone takes Chemotherapy in a pill form it is treated as a prescription.  Thankfully my husband has benefits and so do I to cover the rest.

If this woman has private insurance they have been paying for her treatments.  She no doubt has had a few years of Temodal and other Chemo via a prescription.  No cost to OHIP.

If you have chemotherapy via an injection in a hospital , OHIP covers it.

So in a nutshell,  OHIP get’s off easy on Brain Cancer treatments because it is a pill.  Trillium fund will help those that don’t have coverage but it could be income dependant.  The woman lives in Milton so I assume poverty is not an issue.

I think OHIP should cover some treatments for her becaues they may not have had to cover her past chemotherapies.

Hundres of Thousands of dollars have not been paid by OHIP for Chemo treatments for Brain Cancer patients because they take it at home from a pill.

Seems fair to me.

Pay to Use Carpool lanes - Stupid! Slap in face to carpoolers

Tuesday, March 26th, 2013

Ont. Finance Minister Charles Sousa was floating the idea of single occupant vehicles paying to use the HOV lanes.   My carpool was livid and we don’t even have the use of them on our commute.

The carpool lanes were put in place to encourage carpooling and they are growing in use.  I have coworkers in Mississauga that use the QEW lanes and the 404 lanes.  There are those that are against carpool lanes because they claim the lanes will just be added to the road capacity and revert to regular lanes in time.  Don’t prove them right.

The original plan for the QEW widening did not include carpool lanes but the Halton Environmental Network lobbied hard to have the carpool lane constructed since they were doing the road work anyways while the 404 was a planned carpool project. (more…)

Pickering wants the payoff now too! Motion to be willing Casino Host

Monday, December 10th, 2012

Here is a link to the article on .

Who would have thought that having a Casino in Ajax would lead to future shakedowns.

I still believe we should be sharing some revenue with the Region but now Pickering wants to get a bribe offer as well to not have a Casino I think.

Pickering will state in their motion a willingness to share revenues of any Casino with Ajax AND Whitby.

Open Season on Mayors!

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

So what do we think about Toronto Mayor Rob Ford being kicked out of office?

I will say , I have been an on and off again Ford Fan but this issue has turned into a witch hunt.

The Municipal Conflict of Interest act is unenforced, if the Province really felt it wanted to protect us it would enforce the law and not leave it to Citizens to obtain lawyers- lucky if you get one to work for free if they are motivated enough to do it.   Glory and political outcome.

If Mayor Ford had just had a lovely Mayor’s gala with the Football foundation as the recipient of the money raised, all would be ok.     That’s my thinking.   Then he could have stood up in Council and announced the event and sent invites on City letterhead even.

Do they not have Mayor Galas in Toronto?  All the  burbs around the city have them.

I realise the reason the he is out is because he spoke on an issue that he was involved in but the act itself gives loopholes so it does not have to be strictly enforced if a judge so decided.

How did Mayor McCallion survive on what I feel was a larger abuse of the law?

If they like you , it’s ok if they don’t , look out.

Ward 2 Community Meeting- Taxes and GO station

Tuesday, November 6th, 2012

I was unable to make the last Ward 2 Community meeting , it was being held by all 3 North Councillors,  Renrick Ashby Ward 2 , Marilyn Crawford Ward 1 and Shaun Collier, Regional Wards 1, 2.

I was informed the 2 dominating topics were, Taxes and the GO station.

How do you feel about the property Taxes in Ajax?

Slots - speculation only

Tuesday, July 31st, 2012

Whitby wants some money from Ajax Downs,  Parish scoffs at this.

I believe this still comes down to 407 and greenbelt.

Ajax built the Sportsplex up in the middle of nowhere at Taunton and Audley to ensure a North South link to 401 from 407 was not built on the Ajax side.   This forced a freeze on lands in West Whitby and no development meant no development charges for a large area of land during the phase that the 407 Environmental Assessment was going on.

Maybe Whitby thinks it’s payback time.

My opinion is some slot money should be shared with the Region, the road in front of the Slots is a Regional Road and if any issues occured it is Regional Police that respond.   Our Mayor offered Bike Trail money to the Region or Scugogg one time so there is some money to share.

But a split with Pickering, Whitby only .  No I don’t agree with that.   I wonder if Whitby is regretting their yes vote for Regional Chair election now.

Agree - Disagree?

Ministry of Transportation sucks! Cameras LIE

Friday, July 6th, 2012

I am in a carpool as some of you know so it means that a passenger can monitor traffic in real time if we want to.   I decided to get some smartphone traffic apps, one was free and one was $1.99 , why I paid I don’t know as the information all appears to come from MTO but it is in a smartphone format so it may be worth the money,  if you go to the antique website of the Ministry of Transportation you can’t see a thing on your blackberry or Iphone as it is from way way back in the 90’s I think.  (more…)

Elliot Lake and Emergency Plans

Thursday, June 28th, 2012

First off,  it is a tragedy that happened in Elliot Lake and the ultimate responsibility lies with the owner of the Mall and I await an investigation as I heard that all property roof work inspections were passed.

The response to the Emergency continues to make the press.

I just want to point out that Elliot Lake is a single Tier Municipality– no Regional structure.  This is their Emergency Plan.   Every Municipality has them, time and resources have been spent putting them together.    The definition is broad and the mall collapse does fit into it.  (more…)
