Kelly Guthrie Community Engagement Coordinator  from the City of Guelph will be sharing her knowledge of Participatory Budgeting as a concept and how the City of Guelph uses this to engage citizens”
Kelly has spoken about this topic on CBC radio in the past.

Maddie Di Muccio , Councillor Town of Newmarket, Regular Columnist  Toronto Sun  will talk about Council Transparency.

Joey Coleman , - Is Canada’s first crowdfunded journalist. Based in Hamilton, Joey covers all municipal government and board meetings, responds to reader inquiries at all hours, and livestreams from breaking news events. Prior to breaking out on his own, Joey worked for Maclean’s and The Globe and Mail. A nerd at heart, Joey is a leader in Hamilton’s Open Data movement believing that journalism is not gatekeeping, but gate-opening.
The topic of Joey’s talk is entitled “Building an Open Data ecosystem for all to access, not just elites”

How do we build open data so it is accessible to all citizens and not just those with specialized skills such as information management or coding? In Hamilton, municipal open data is being implemented because of advocacy among neighbourhood associations and community groups, not solely from the developer community, with the goal of ensuring all citizens can use open data.

It’s a unique partnership - what does it mean for open data, open government, and civic engagement?

Public Meetings- All Durham Local Councils updated

Saturday, April 13th, 2013

http://voicesofajax.com/?page_id=410

This is updated, all links tested.   Some websites are screaming for an intervention.

The pages are on the right side navigation down near the bottom.

The website from the Region is also a monster of a site as well.

Councillor link to Websites and social media

Thursday, April 11th, 2013

Here is a link to a new page — All pages are down the right navigation pane.

http://voicesofajax.com/?page_id=445

The Town of Ajax does not link to election websites or candidate websites , I think this is a mistake.  As long as all have equal opportunity the Town should support it and provide links to webpages.

The Town must have increased their Councillor Communication budget as some have Town Hall meetings regularly.

Ajax moves 3 ways - yet another domain and website

Friday, June 22nd, 2012

I don’t get why we continue to have a Town website with a new domain.  It probably doesn’t cost much but it’s confusing to navigate around them all.

Every campaign/program should be a link from the Main Town of Ajax website– a new page area that can be removed and revised for the next promotional program etc.

When you register a domain, you pay for the domain , you pay for the hosting , it is just more monitoring to do also,  monitor where your readers are coming from etc.

Ajax looking for new Recreation Director

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

I saw the ad in the Globe and Mail and it is on the Town site as well.

I have been busy with stuff and not too attentive lately to what is going on around town.  I have also been going to the community Sustainabilty sessions, next one is in the fall.   I have met some nice people that are very passionate about their beliefs, interesting discussion has arose.

I had a reader ask me about the programming at the St. Francis Centre,  pretty expensive movie house she said.  I took at look at the upcoming events and all I see are movies.  I use to do some movie nights for the French Immersion homework club,  trust me we did not make a lot of money due to the royalites that had to be paid.
