Sunshine more explanation needed

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

Again here is what I was told in 2009 when I saw double digit increases for quite a few years in a row.

I read the response Mr. Skinner gave to news advertiser for explaining the list and the context.  What is recognition pay and what is a bonus?   (more…)

It is in the Pages section to the lower right when you are at the start page and can see the right listing of stuff.

Will add an Ajax Council Meeting page also.  A notation will be made if Regional Council reports are verbal or online.

Ward 1 Meeting - It was a good meeting

Saturday, January 28th, 2012

On Wednesday I attended the Ward 1 meeting held by Councillor Marilyn Crawford,  on my facebook it was pointed out that Councillor Crawford had lost in the last election, oops, I forgot about him.  When I saw Crawford I mean Marilyn now.

When I arrived I was surprised by the amount of people in attendance 30+, it was held at Vimy Ridge school on Telford Street, perhaps the communication from the school is better then others, there were community representatives from Neighbourhood watch in attendance as well.   Here is a google map link to the area, since I was not a resident of the ward some references to street names and the surrounding references did not mean anything to me.  (more…)

Ward 1 and 2 meeting- Ok turnout - Rob Ford was in attendance

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

For the size of Ward 1 and 2 there should have been more people but it was ok.   It was exciting and interesting!

It is a shame there is not an equivalent meeting for Ward 3 and 4, at least there is none scheduled as of yet. (more…)

The reason I filed FOI - should I appeal? — choked on bagel

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Here is why I filed the Freedom of Information.  I had heard a rumour and I normally don’t post rumours but it’s my money I have been paying so I will state the rumour and you my occasional readers tell me if I should continue.   (more…)

Concerned Citizens for Smart Transit - Facebook Group

Friday, September 2nd, 2011

I was recently contacted by someone I met over 5 years ago who shared my interest for Transit in Durham Region.   I created the group called Concerned Citizens for Smart Transit– I had buttons made that said “Help! I don’t work downtown Toronto”  I did the best I could with it, metroland even offered me a blog , I called it Transit Nightmares.   It was fun but in time I ran out of new stuff to write about!   I was advocating for better transit before my employer moved from North York to Mississauga.  I went to Transit Advisory Committee meetings.

My contact said the group should be revived, he told me transit in Durham is costing us $9.30 a ride per taxpayer.   I think part of this is due to the Region having to pay the full cost to GO transit for the Highway 2 service on a DRT ticket fare.  Is it value for our money?

I had to give up my use of transit as I am working in Mississauga and it just did not work for me.   I do carpool though.

If you are interested in the facebook group just do a search on the name above and you can be added to it.

Durham Transit riders deserve better!  Highschool students , College/University Students , Commuters , Employers.

This is a provincial election period and Transit needs to be high on the priority!
